Fire Safety – Use Smoke Detectors Properly

Not enough is done to promote good housekeeping in fire-related matters-domestic or commercial.



As installers and providers of maintenance for fire detection and alarm systems we are constantly visiting homes in multiple occupancy (HMOs).



It is common practice in this type of property to have mains-operated fire alarm in the common areas and domestic type detectors in the residences.



In our experience where a ‘cheap’ smoke alarm has been installed, it is a common occurrence to find that the batteries have either expired or been removed, rendering them useless.
