Career Projections: Marketing Careers Are Becoming More Specialized

In an age where the advertising and marketing field is becoming more specialized by the day, job security may lie in possessing skills that transfer well from one area of expertise to another. Because new technologies oftentimes lead to additional advertising mediums, the once all-encompassing field of general marketing is now being diversified into segments such as wireless marketing, online marketing, customer relationship management, small business marketing and more.
Students may choose to concentrate on developing skills that may apply to practically every area in this industry. By doing so, they could position themselves as more valuable than another applicant who does not possess a variety of skills.
